Gabriella Rodrigues, age 29, of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, was arrested on Friday, May 10, after she turned herself in to Darien Police on a warrant.

According to Lt. Dan Skoumbros of the Darien Police, the warrant stems from an incident reported in September 2023 where the victim reported she received a call from a man claiming to be an employee with her bank and that there had been fraud on her account.

The victim provided information the suspect used to set up a new user login for her online bank access.

A short time later, the victim checked her bank account and discovered that $45,000 had been wired from her account, Skoumbros said.

A Darien detective investigating the case determined Rodrigues owned a bank account used in the fraudulent wire, Skoumbros said. The identity of Rodrigues was confirmed, and the video surveillance of her at the bank was matched with that of her during fraudulent transactions.

Contact was made with Rodrigues, who claimed she was a secondary victim and could provide documentation. Rodrigues did not provide documentation, and an arrest warrant was granted with a court-set bond of $150,000.

Rodrigues was processed on the bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, May 28.
